New superintendent for Indiana

Indianapolis, IN - Indiana Department of Correction Commissioner J. David Donohue appointed Julie Smith as Superintendent of Parke County's Rockville Correctional Facility. She will begin June 26, 2006.
"I am excited to offer Ms. Smith a promotion as the new Superintendent of the Rockville Correctional Facility," said Commissioner J. David Donahue. "Ms. Smith has made significant contributions throughout her career in corrections. I am confident that her broad range of experience will make her a solid leader at the facility."
Smith's experience includes serving as a Classification Supervisor, Correctional Counselor and as an Assistant Superintendent. Since 2005, she has been the Assistant Superintendent of Operations at the Wabash Correctional Facility. She began her career as a CO with the Department in 1983 and has moved up the ranks. Smith earned her BS in Criminology from Indiana State University in 1983.
