Inmate dies at Oregon State Penitentiary |

An inmate at the Oregon State Penitentiary in Salem was found dead in his cell Tuesday morning. According to the Oregon Department of Corrections, authorities found John McCartney, 65, unresponsive in his cell, and he was pronounced dead at about 8:54 a.m. He appeared to have died from natural causes, the department said. McCartney has been held by the department since 2007, on four counts of first-degree sodomy, out of Washington County. His earliest release date was April 9, 2018. Read More. |
