Residents express concern about inmate ministry

TUSCUMBIA — Residents told Colbert County Commissioners on Tuesday they were upset at the length of time it took to notify them about two sex offenders who are participating in the Outreach Re-entry Ministry that opened in the old Four Way Inn on U.S. 43.

They were also upset the chairman of the ministry, McVantage Packaging owner Chester McKinney, and the executive director, the Rev. Willie Simpson, did not notify them of the ministry opening near their homes.

The bottom line, however, according to Colbert County Sheriff Frank Williamson and County Attorney Edgar Black, is the county has no authority over the ministry, as long as they're following the law.
