Giles County inmate recaptured after escaping during litter pickup

A Giles County inmate who escaped custody on Thursday afternoon has been recaptured.

According to the Giles County Sheriff's Department, James Michael Hicks Jr. was found near Exit 14 in Frankewing just after midnight Friday after an extensive search in both Giles and Lincoln counties.

Hicks escaped while he was working with a litter pickup crew on South Ridge Road in southern Giles County.

Hicks is serving time for drug-related charges, as well as aggravated assault.
