Corrections Connection: This Week In Corrections

EDITOR'S CORNER

I always have difficulty answering the "what do you do" question, mostly because it's usually meant to find out about one's profession but then tends to define who a person is. To me, it's not just work that defines someone; hobbies, interests and family are just as important.

In some cases, though, the answer can be an easy one if it's a job people understand. When the profession is less understood, or tends to be associated with uncomfortable issues, the answer can be tricky.

How I've handled this question is the topic of this week's feature. I still don't have any clear cut responses, but I have learned a few lessons along the way when asked what I do.

All of this being done while figuring out who got which kid and when since the children were in different preschools in different towns. I nodded, and added the occasional “wow,” and “I hear ya,” at appropriate times. Read this week's full story.
