A number of years ago, we went to a large kinda rubber/plastic bucket with the mop wringer molded into it. very handy and pretty safe. Haven’t heard of one being used to hurt anyone. |

This is a suggestion for those of you still in corrections who use mop wringers with a mop pail for cleaning each day. About 30 years ago we had a murder at our jail caused when a mop pail and wringer were placed inside the inmates cell block for cleaning. The two inmates in the block were bunkies but the one was resentful for some reason so when the mop pail and wringer (steel) were in the block he took the steel wringer and hit the inmate in the head 8 times killing him. Since then we NEVER place any mop pails or wringers in the blocks, they are secured outside the steel bars in the officer’s catwalk. Inmates can easily put the mop into the pail from their side, squeeze out the water and mop. As we say..have a safe shift. |
