At this time we are looking for Full Time and On Call / Intermittent for Washington Corrections Center (WCC) located in Shelton, WA. For additional information about our agency, please visit doc.wa.gov. Washington Corrections Center (WCC) is located 35 miles west of Olympia, the state capital. WCC is the Reception and Diagnostic Center, a close-custody facility with the primary responsibility to process, test, and classify all adult male felons sentenced to prison in Washington State. The facility has seven living units and houses 1,700 offenders. There are about 500 offenders screened and assessed each month. WCC is also the major hub for transfer of offenders to and from facilities throughout the state. - - - The Registered Nurse supports the Department's mission by leading others in the delivery of nursing services that promote health, foster healing, and support coping and adjusting to various health conditions. This position also supports the mission of the Health Services division by providing necessary, comprehensive, quality health services and promoting offender wellness. Duties Under general supervision, our Registered Nurse serves as a lead worker and supports the agency mission and vision by:•Screening, assessing, and evaluating offenders and the conditions where they live and work to ensure that they are well, safe and their health care continuous. •Responding to all other requests for health care attention in a complete, timely, clinically appropriate and therapeutic manner. •Delegating and supervising work, monitoring, managing, coordinating, and delivering health care. •Planning transition, making referrals and arranging follow-up when patients transfer or return to the community. •Assisting patients to improve their skill and ability to provide care for themselves and their family. •Counseling, consulting, teaching, advising, and providing health information that improves quality of health services and/or enhances safety and security. The On-Call staff provides coverage in cases of extended vacation, illness, training, and other leaves of absence. On-call/intermittent staff is expected to:•Be available to work all shifts (day, swing and graveyard) including weekends and holidays. •Be willing to work a minimum of 10 shifts a month. •Provide written availability by the 10th of each month for the following month's coverage. •Be willing to complete a paid six-week correctional worker core training M-F from 8 to 4:30 pm. **On Call / Intermittent nurses may qualify for benefits by working a minimum of 80 hours per month.** Qualifications The ability to obtain a valid Washington State license to practice as a Registered Nurse prior to employment; Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing; AND One year experience working as a Registered Nurse. ** Note: Must have initial and continuous unblemished/unrestricted licensure as a Registered Nurse.
