|Marion County inmate pleads guilty to attempted murder after strangling guard, trying to escape|

A Linn County man, one of two who attacked a correctional officer and tried to escape while they were inmates in the Marion County Jail, was sentenced to 10 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to the crime on Monday.
Brian Eller was convicted of attempted aggravated murder, first-degree escape and strangulation. According to court documents, Eller and another man, Bradley Monical, attacked Stacy Headrick in November of 2016 when she was doing an hourly check early one morning.
According to a September 2019 article by the Salem Statesman-Journal, Eller and Monical surprised Heardrick and choked her, then tried to grab her keys and radio.
