|Virginia DOC facilities suspended to visitors, volunteers until further notice|
RICHMOND, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Virginia Department of Corrections announced on Monday that volunteers will not be allowed in correctional facilities until further notice to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease 2019, according to a news release from the VADOC.
There are not any known cases of COVID-19 among offenders and staff in Virginia’s prisons, but the VADOC decided to cancel all offender visitations last week. Contractors can enter the VADOC facilities for their contractual duties.
Off-site video visitations made possible through Assisting Families of Inmates are available.
